Dash, which was released as Darkcoin in January 2014 and held that name until March 2015, is a cryptocurrency that solves the problem of Privacy on the blockchain. When using Dash, it’s not possible to have someone backtrace that transaction to you, unlike Bitcoin which is proven to be hardly anonymous. Dash was designed to allow transactions quickly and to have a swift governance structure in order to overcome shortfalls in Bitcoin.
On top of Bitcoin's feature set, it currently offers instant transactions (InstantSend), private transactions (PrivateSend) and operates a self-governing and self-funding model that enables the Dash network to pay individuals and businesses to perform work that adds value to the network. Dash's decentralized governance and budgeting system makes it a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO).
